How it began

About Gap Kenya

Gap Kenya began in 2011 following a holiday to Mombasa by founders Paul and Gayle Woods.

Whilst there, they saw children lying asleep on the busy pavements in the city centre, children with nowhere to live, nowhere to go, hungry, ignored, and neglected. From that moment, they knew something needed to be done.

God spoke to us when we saw these children and reminded us of His words in Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. (Niv)

Gap Kenya believes He has a plan for each and every child and the lives they currently lead are not His plan.

It is not only children who live like this, there are teenagers, young adults and older people all living and surviving on the streets and garbage dumps in Kenya. Gap Kenya is willing to help any street connected child, irrespective of their age, gender or faith.

Paul and Gayle Woods are from the UK.
